If the name Tarzana sounds familiar, that’s because this neighborhood was literally named after the fictional character from the jungle, Tarzan. This suburban community in the San Fernando Valley was spawned from a property owned by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the author of Tarzan.

Beyond this literary connection, the area of Tarzana is just as steeped in history. It used to be occupied by Spanish settlers and, at one point, was even absorbed by Mexico. Eventually, it was given up as a US territory, under which the land was converted into a cattle farm.

Today, Tarzana is an urban community that provides residents with all the essentials for a great quality of life. The neighborhood boasts must-try restaurants, coffee shops, and a wealth of nature parks and attractions. Family-friendly community centers, art studios, libraries, delicatessens, and more also make it a great neighborhood for families and young professionals.

A top attraction in the area is the Vanalden Cave, a unique sandstone cave within the Santa Monica Mountains, which you can reach after a bit of a hike.

No doubt about it, Tarzana is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in LA. In fact, it is among the top 15% of the highest income neighborhoods in the US, with an average household income that’s higher than 95.6% of other places in the US.

Mid-century modern homes can be typically seen in this neighborhood. There are plenty of other options too, especially for property owners who prefer to customize their homes. And just as single-family homes are popular, condo complexes are prevalent as well.

Find the perfect home for you and your family in Tarzana. With their unparalleled experience, the team at Scottman & Rande can make your home buying experience easier and more enjoyable.
