Known as “the ‘Bu”, the famous beach city of Malibu sits where the Santa Monica Mountains meet the Pacific Ocean, approximately 30 miles from downtown Los Angeles. This iconic community is known for its “21 miles of scenic beauty”, encompassing beaches, state parks, and rugged canyons.

Malibu is surrounded by Agoura Hills, Calabasas, and Woodland Hills on the north, Topanga on the east, Solromar on the west, and the Pacific Ocean on the south. The area is dotted by a slew of parks and beaches, including Las Flores Beach, the Malibu Creek State Park, Big Rock Beach, the Leo Carrillo State Beach and Park, and Malibu Beach. The ridges that wind through the area are the site of several parks belonging to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, including Trancas Canyon Park, Malibu Bluffs Park, and Legacy Park.

People come to Malibu for the beaches, but they’re not the only thing that will get you to stay. For starters, there’s the historic Malibu Pier where you can enjoy a long list of activities with friends and family. Go people watching, shop for surf gear, and enjoy al fresco dining at the Malibu Farm, or rent a stand up paddleboard and try your skills on the water.

For some scrumptious seafood feasting, head down to the Broad Street Oyster Company, where you can have your fill of caviar, ceviche, and cocktails. Wash it all down with some local vintages on the 2.5-mile Malibu Wine Hike. Or explore the Malibu Hindu Temple near the Malibu Creek Park.

Great education is also part of the Malibu lifestyle. The city is served by the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District and also boasts several private schools. The 16,530-square foot Malibu Library which opened in 1970 has been a community hub since the beginning.
