The Chumash Indian name for what is now known as Malibu was Humaliwo, with a silent “hu”. Today, the name evokes mental vistas of resplendent blue waters, gorgeous coastlines, and thriving beachfront communities with distinctive homes.

Malibu’s is made up of smaller beach communities, each a gem in its own right. The neighborhoods are defined by the beach they front.

First off, there’s El Matador, which is the perfect haven for those looking to get away from the throngs of people that usually flock to this neighborhood. Here, you can do a host of activities both on water and on land, including swimming, birdwatching, or simply gazing at the awe-inspiring rock formations that line its shoreline and sea caves.

If you’re a surfer, you can’t miss Surfrider Beach. Granted, Malibu Pier is where you’d want to go if you’re a seasoned pro, but if you want some gentler rips, Surfrider Beach is a dazzling and still challenging spot.

Off the water, the neighborhood is a smorgasbord of amazing venues for dining and shopping. There’s the Malibu Pier, where you can go saltwater fishing, watch the surfers practice their tricks, or sit down for a sumptuous lunch or dinner at the Malibu Farm. If you’re looking for trinkets, stop by Ranch at the Pier and explore its two-story collection of eclectic knick-knacks that make perfect presents for all occasions.

Malibu’s beaches house some of the most luxurious properties in the entire state of California. With some dating back to 1946, multi-million single-family home dwellings and expansive mansions are common in the area. Celebrities that have taken up residence here include Lady Gaga, Halle Berry, and Julia Roberts.

Want to join this impressive list of residents and call Malibu Beach home? The Scottman & Rande team would be thrilled to guide you through the various properties that are available in the area. Let them know what you need, and this skilled team of professionals will help you snag the perfect beachfront property in Malibu
