Often referred to as Tinseltown, Hollywood holds sway over all other LA neighborhoods in terms of prominence. Spanning 3.51 square miles, it has a population of nearly 63,000, which makes it one of the densest neighborhoods in the city. Nevertheless, it offers a distinct charm that pulls many people in, and beyond the glitz and glamor, you’ll find that it boasts a rich history that is equally beguiling and inspiring.

The very first house in Hollywood was an adobe building constructed in 1853, and since then, the neighborhood has spawned a sprawling metropolis of film studios, entertainment hubs, restaurants and bars, tourist attractions, and homes of all sizes and types.

Living here means getting treated to never-ending things to do. Depending on your mood, you can take your pick of popular and touristy activities, such as checking out the Hollywood Sign, touring the Warner Brothers studios, or browsing through numerous museums. Or you can avoid the crowds and go fully local at such attractions as the Hollywood Farmers Market, which features around a hundred local vendors.

Hollywood is one of the most walkable areas in Los Angeles. However, if you need to take public transit, that also won’t be challenging. Whether on foot or by train or bus, you can easily get to any of Tinseltown’s array of dining, entertainment, and lifestyle hubs. Take it from day to night at the neighborhood’s long time staples, including Musso & Frank Gill, the Roosevelt Hotel, Ovation, the Dome Entertainment Center, and so much more.

For families, there are plenty of options for great schools in the area. These include the Girls Academic Leadership Academy: Dr. Michelle King School for STEM, the LA County High School for the Arts, and the Larchmont Charter School.
