Hollywood Hills East encompasses what used to be a farming village. Now, it’s one of the most densely populated areas in central Los Angeles. Found south of the Hollywood sign, this neighborhood is bordered by the Los Angeles river to the north and Franklin Avenue down south. To the west, Hollywood Hills East is flanked by Hollywood Freeway, and to the east, the territory ends at Canyon Drive.
The neighborhood was annexed to the city of Los Angeles in 1910, along with Hollywood. Since then, it has enjoyed immense development, ultimately leading to the variety of housing styles you’ll find here today. These include California mid-century modern, Spanish, and ultra-modern. Many celebrities have called this community home, which is not surprising as the area features the perfect mix of beautiful scenery, urbanity, and privacy.
Hollywood Hills East has much to offer by way of attractions. If you’re interested in moving to this area, you’d be pleased to know that you’ll be sharing the same postal code as notable places like the historic Barnsdall Art Park. At this 11.5-acre park, the young and old alike can enjoy the clay-block UNESCO Heritage Site, the Hollyhock House. Or you can create or check out artworks, watch a film screening or live performance, or attend a lecture.
Hungry? The area boasts diverse dining experiences, from the romantic ambiance at Pace Italian restaurant to the adventurous Japanese cuisine creations at Yamashiro. Or you can try Birds of Hollywood, a vibrant restaurant and bar famous for its rotisserie chicken. For entertainment, just head over to East Hollywood’s range of theaters, escape rooms, bars, and shops.
If you need assistance in setting up residence in the area, feel free to get in touch with the Scottman & Rande team. One of the top real estate teams in Los Angeles, they make it their business to guide you through your various options and help you secure your dream home.
