Opening its doors to the public on January 1, 2024, this long-anticipated surf haven, located at 1500 S Gene Autry Trail in Palm Springs, promises an exhilarating escape for both surf enthusiasts and curious onlookers.
Vinny Smith, the general partner of the club, expressed the profound journey of transforming a neglected 1970s park into an extraordinary desert surf destination. The Palm Springs Surf Club has emerged as a testament to catching waves in the most unexpected of places, bridging communities and providing world-class entertainment.

The project’s genesis dates back to 2018 when Cheyne Magnusson and pro surf icon Kalani Robb conceptualized a cutting-edge wave prototype at the former Wet ‘N’ Wild waterpark in Palm Springs. In 2019, after successful testing, Vinny Smith joined forces with hotel developers Tim and Colin O’Byrne to bring this dream to life.
At the heart of the resort is an engineered wave, ranging from two to seven feet, extending 400 feet, offering rides lasting seven to 11 seconds. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, the Palm Springs Surf Club ensures a thrilling experience for everyone.

For those not inclined to hit the waves, the 21-acre club offers various water-centric attractions, including waterslides, ADA-accessible lounge pools, and a lazy river. Amala restaurant, serving sustainable bites, provides an alternative experience, allowing guests to skip the park entrance fee.
Three full bars on-site offer bespoke cocktails and draft beer, complemented by low-key bites at Drifter’s, conveniently located next to the pool. Private cabanas and day beds along the river and wave pool provide a perfect setting for relaxation.

Addressing concerns about water usage in the desert, PSSC employs environmentally conscious practices, utilizing only 1 percent of the water volume required by a typical golf course and generating over 70 percent of its energy resources in-house.
Surfers can bring their own boards or rent from the in-house shop. Riding the wave starts at $100 for beginners (for a group of 12), $150 for intermediates (group of 12), and $200 for the advanced (group of 9).
